My name is Michael Cutler, and I am a Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) and Instrument Instructor (CFI-I).
A few years ago, I went to the feed mill to buy grain for our animals and saw a sign that said "Learn to Fly Here." I went home and told my wife that I thought it would be cool to learn to fly. Her response was, "I'll support you if you want to do that, but you have to go all the way to your commercial license so that you can earn some of that money back!" With that kind of support, I ran headlong into aviation.
By the time I showed up for my first lesson, I had completed my ground school, taken my written test, and had all of my books and supplies in a flight bag. When I met with my CFI for the first time, he literally asked if I was a "plant", because he had never seen a new student so prepared.
I try to take that approach to every aspect of flying. I'd rather be OVERprepared than underprepared, and I want the same for you. I want you to pass your checkride on the first try. I want you to be able to take your family and friends along and not have to worry about their safety. I want you to be able to pass on the joy of aviation to others just like I try to do!
Other things that may or may not interest you: I'm an avid outdoorsman, enjoying bow hunting, fishing, hiking, and camping. I have worked as a Pastor, electrician, delivery driver, and law enforcement agent. I've worked on aircraft (under the supervision of an A&P Mechanic) in Quebec, Canada and Cameroon, Africa. I've flown into AirVenture at Oshkosh, the Wright Brothers Memorial at Kitty Hawk, and to Canada multiple times.
